PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE INFORMATION REGARDING TRAVEL TO PERU:

The visa-free regime between Ukraine and the Republic of Peru was introduced on the basis of the bilateral Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Republic of Peru on the mutual abolition of visa requirements for short-term stays of citizens, signed on July 15, 2021, and which entered into force on October 27, 2021.

Ukrainian citizens may stay in the territory of the Republic of Peru without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. The 180-day period is counted from the date of the first entry into Peru. All days of actual stay in Peru during the previous 180 days are counted, regardless of whether they were consecutive or divided into several trips. The day of entry and the day of departure are both included in the total number of days of stay.

The permitted period of stay is calculated by summing up all days spent in Peru during the preceding 180 days at the time of each new entry or while staying in the country. It is recommended to check your migration status in advance, including the number of days already used and the remaining permitted days, especially before planning departure from the country, submitting applications for extension of stay, or changing migration status. Such information can be obtained from the National Superintendency of Migration of Peru (Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones), including through its official website or by visiting its territorial offices in person.

You may also download the Tarjeta Andina de Migración (TAM) — an electronic migration record card containing information about your entry into and exit from Peru. This card indicates your date of entry into Peru, the number of days remaining for your stay under the visa-free regime, and the date on which your visa-free period expires and you are required to leave the territory of Peru. The Tarjeta Andina de Migración (TAM) can be downloaded at the following link.

Exceeding the permitted period of stay in the territory of the Republic of Peru constitutes a violation of migration legislation and entails administrative liability in accordance with the laws of Peru. If a fine is imposed, its payment is a mandatory condition for departure from the territory of the Republic of Peru. Failure to pay the fine may result in delays in departure, refusal of exit from the country, and the application of additional administrative sanctions, including restrictions on future entry into Peru.

If Ukrainian citizens intend to stay in Peru beyond the established visa-free period, they must apply in advance to the National Superintendency of Migration of Peru in order to request an extension of stay or to change their migration status.

To enter the territory of the Republic of Peru, Ukrainian citizens must possess a valid Ukrainian passport for travel abroad. The passport must be valid for at least six months at the time of entry into the Republic of Peru and contain a sufficient number of blank pages for possible border control markings.

It is important to note that entry and exit stamps are not placed in the passport when entering or leaving Peru. Instead, a Tarjeta Andina de Migración (TAM) — an electronic migration record card — is generated, containing information about entry into and exit from Peru. It can be downloaded at the following link.

In the event of travel to the Republic of Peru with an extended (renewed validity) Ukrainian international passport, a Ukrainian citizen may be denied entry. As of October 29, 2025, the procedure for extending the validity of a Ukrainian international passport has been abolished. Ukrainian citizens whose international passports are expiring must apply for a new biometric passport for themselves and for their children.

Ukrainian citizens enjoy the right of visa-free entry into Peru for tourism or other short-term purposes in accordance with the applicable bilateral international agreement. A visa is not required for such trips.

If Ukrainian citizens intend to enter the territory of the Republic of Peru for a period exceeding ninety (90) days or for the purpose of engaging in remunerated activities in Peru, they are required to obtain the appropriate visa prior to entry at a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Peru. Please note that the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in Ukraine is not resident in Ukraine and operates with residence in the Republic of Poland. The Honorary Consulate of Peru in Ukraine (Kyiv) is not authorized to issue visas. For visa applications, the nearest diplomatic mission is the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in the Republic of Poland, which is concurrently accredited to Ukraine.

During border control procedures, the competent authorities of the Republic of Peru may request additional documents, including confirmation of the purpose of travel, a return or onward ticket, medical insurance, proof of sufficient financial means for the period of stay, and documentation confirming accommodation arrangements.

In the case of entry of minor Ukrainian citizens, the general rules of international travel for children apply, including the requirement to possess their own passport as well as the child’s birth certificate with an apostille and a notarized translation. For entry into Peru accompanied by only one parent or by third parties, a document confirming the consent of the other parent is not required; however, for departure from Peru, the consent of the other parent is mandatory in certain cases (see the section “Rules for Departure from the Territory of the Republic of Peru”).

The final decision on granting permission to enter the territory of the Republic of Peru is made by an official of the National Superintendency of Migration of the Republic of Peru and does not depend on the position of or intervention by the Embassy of Ukraine.

When traveling to Peru, you must cross the border only through official border control points. Illegal crossing through jungle or mountainous areas is dangerous and may result in legal consequences, including deportation or a ban on re-entry.

Mandatory vaccinations are not required for entry into Peru. However, travelers arriving in Peru through the territories of Brazil or Colombia are recommended to be vaccinated against yellow fever. The yellow fever vaccine is particularly important if planning travel to areas of the Peruvian Amazon and is recommended to be administered at least 10 days prior to the start of the trip.

This vaccine is recommended — and in certain cases may be mandatory — for persons aged 15 to 59 traveling to regions such as Loreto, Ucayali, Madre de Dios, San Martín, Amazonas, Huánuco, Junín (jungle areas), Pasco (jungle areas), Cusco (jungle areas, including La Convención Province), and Puno (lowland areas). The vaccination must be administered at least 10 days before travel.

For additional information regarding yellow fever vaccination requirements and procedures in Peru, we recommend consulting the following link.

Possession of an insurance policy is not a mandatory requirement for entry into the Republic of Peru. However, in order to ensure proper protection of the rights and interests of Ukrainian citizens in the event of unforeseen circumstances, including those related to the need for medical assistance, it is strongly recommended to obtain travel or medical insurance for the period of stay abroad. Having insurance coverage makes it possible to cover expenses in case of sudden illness, accident, or the need for emergency medical care.

It is recommended that the insurance policy provide coverage for outpatient and inpatient treatment, emergency medical assistance, medications, as well as medical evacuation and repatriation in the event of serious illness or death. The amount of insurance coverage should be sufficient to cover potential medical expenses abroad, taking into account the cost of medical services in the Republic of Peru. It is also advisable to review the list of insured events and exclusions from coverage, particularly with regard to chronic illnesses, active recreation, sports activities, stays in high-altitude areas, and other circumstances typical for travel within the territory of the Republic of Peru.

Please note that in the event of unforeseen expenses related to medical care during a stay in the Republic of Peru, Ukrainian citizens bear full financial responsibility themselves. Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad are not authorized to pay for medical treatment, hospitalization, or any other medical expenses of Ukrainian citizens.

Issues related to extending the period of stay in the Republic of Peru or changing migration status fall within the competence of the migration authorities of the Republic of Peru. The authorized body responsible for reviewing such requests is the National Migration Service of Peru (Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones).

In the event that a Ukrainian citizen exceeds the permitted period of stay in the Republic of Peru under the visa-free regime, they are required to legalize their further stay by obtaining a Carné de Extranjería (foreigner ID card), which is the main residence document for foreigners in Peru. To do so, it is necessary to apply to the National Migration Service of Peru and submit an application for a change of migration status, provide a valid passport, documents confirming the grounds for stay (such as studies, employment, family circumstances, etc.), and pay the applicable state fees. Exceeding the permitted period of stay without obtaining the appropriate migration status may result in fines and restrictions on future entry into the Republic of Peru.

It should be taken into account that staying in the Republic of Peru under the visa-free regime does not grant the right to engage in paid employment or studies. For employment or studies, it is necessary to obtain the appropriate visa in advance at a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Peru. It is also possible to change migration status after arrival in the Republic of Peru by applying to the National Migration Service of Peru.

When departing from the territory of the Republic of Peru, Ukrainian citizens are required to comply with the permitted period of lawful stay established under the visa-free regime. The maximum period of stay for Ukrainian citizens in the Republic of Peru is 90 days within a 180-day period. Exceeding the permitted period of stay constitutes a violation of the migration legislation of the Republic of Peru.

In the event of a violation of the established period of stay, the competent authorities of the Republic of Peru may require payment of administrative fines or other mandatory fees prior to departure from the country. Failure to pay such charges may serve as grounds for refusal of departure until the matter is fully resolved.

Before departing from the territory of the Republic of Peru, Ukrainian citizens are advised to verify that there are no exit bans or restrictions imposed by migration, judicial, or other competent authorities of Peru in connection with overstaying, violations of the law, or outstanding obligations. This can be checked by downloading your Tarjeta Andina de Migración (TAM) — the electronic migration record card containing information on your entry into and exit from Peru — or by visiting in person any office of the National Superintendency of Migration of the Republic of Peru.

When planning departure, it is also necessary to take into account in advance the requirements of airlines and the regulations of transit countries. Air carriers may establish additional conditions regarding the validity period of the passport, possession of a return ticket, confirmation of the right to enter the country of destination or transit, as well as compliance with aviation security rules. In the case of transit through third countries, passengers are required to independently verify the visa and migration requirements of such countries, including the need to obtain a transit visa, even if the transit does not involve leaving the airport transit zone. Failure to comply with airline or transit country requirements may result in denial of boarding or refusal of entry into the respective country. Compliance with these requirements is the personal responsibility of the passenger and does not fall within the competence of the Embassy of Ukraine.

In the event of departure from the territory of the Republic of Peru of a minor child who has stayed in the country for more than six months and is traveling with only one parent or with an authorized person, a notarized consent from the other parent authorizing the child’s departure abroad is mandatory, even if the child is not a citizen of the Republic of Peru.

Such consent must be issued in Peru by a Peruvian notary or at any diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Peru if the other parent is not present in Peru. Consents issued by a notary of another country or not executed at a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Peru may not be accepted by Peruvian authorities for the purpose of departure from the country.

The requirements and processing times for obtaining a notarized exit authorization for a minor child depend on the specific notarial office (Peruvian Notarial Directory). However, the following documents are usually required: passports of the child and the parents; a birth certificate issued no more than three months prior to submission, duly apostilled and translated into Spanish; and travel information, including the date of departure and return, destination, and airline.

The notarized consent is valid for 90 days and must be presented during migration control upon departure from Peru. Such consent is valid for one specific departure of the child from the territory of Peru only and includes the date of departure and the travel itinerary.

In the absence of the required document, the competent authorities of the Republic of Peru may refuse to allow the child to depart from the territory of Peru, even if the child is not a Peruvian citizen. More detailed information is available at the following link.

Decisions regarding the admission of foreign nationals to the territory of the Republic of Peru fall within the exclusive competence of the National Superintendency of Migration of the Republic of Peru. Officials of the National Superintendency of Migration are authorized to verify documents, the purpose of travel, the period of stay, and compliance with national migration legislation, as well as to make the final decision on granting or refusing entry.

Grounds for refusal of entry may include, inter alia, the absence or invalidity of travel documents, violations of permitted periods of stay during previous visits, lack of confirmation of the purpose of travel, insufficient financial means, the existence of bans or restrictions imposed by the competent authorities of Peru, as well as other grounds предусмотренные законодательством Республики Перу.

ATTENTION: The Embassy of Ukraine has no authority to influence the decisions of the border or migration authorities of the Republic of Peru regarding entry approval or refusal, extension of stay, or change of migration status of foreign nationals. Decisions adopted by the competent authorities of Peru are final and binding.

In case of problematic situations during entry, stay, or departure from the territory of the Republic of Peru, Ukrainian citizens may seek consular assistance from the Embassy of Ukraine. Consular assistance is provided within the limits established by the legislation of Ukraine and international law and may include explanations, consultations, assistance in case of loss of documents, or informing relatives, but does not involve interference in the decisions of the authorities of the Republic of Peru or financial support for citizens.
