Advice for travellers to Ukraine
07 July 2026 10:00

The Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Peru, concurrently accredited to the Republic of Colombia, wishes to inform citizens of both countries planning to visit Ukraine of the following information regarding the conditions of entry, stay, and departure from the territory of Ukraine. In view of the ongoing armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, the Embassy strongly recommends carefully reviewing the information below before planning your trip.

1. General Information on Martial Law

By the Decree of the President of Ukraine of 24 February 2022, martial law was introduced throughout Ukraine due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The validity of this legal regime has been repeatedly extended by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

In this regard, the Embassy draws the attention of foreign nationals to the following:

  • enhanced document checks are carried out at the state border and throughout the territory of Ukraine;

  • the competent authorities may impose restrictions on movement in certain areas, particularly in frontline regions and areas where hostilities are taking place;

  • air raid alerts may be announced throughout Ukraine, air defence systems may be activated, and temporary disruptions to electricity and telecommunications services may occur;

  • the security situation may change rapidly depending on developments on the battlefield.

Recommendation: Before and during your stay in Ukraine, you should regularly monitor official announcements of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, as well as up-to-date information provided by local authorities and the media.

2. Curfew

A curfew is in force across most of the territory of Ukraine. During the curfew, individuals are prohibited from being on the streets or in other public places without a special permit or identification issued by the competent authorities.

  • In most regions, the curfew generally applies from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., although the exact hours are determined by the relevant Regional Military Administration and may vary.

  • In certain frontline communities, the curfew may begin earlier, between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

  • Zakarpattia Region is currently the only region where no curfew is in force.

  • Visitors are advised to verify the applicable curfew hours directly at their place of stay (hotel, local authorities, etc.).

Recommendation: Plan your movements so that you are at your place of accommodation before the curfew begins. Failure to comply with curfew regulations may result in temporary detention by law enforcement authorities for identity verification.

3. Danger of Explosive Remnants of War

The Embassy wishes to draw particular attention to the fact that, as a result of ongoing hostilities, large areas of Ukraine are contaminated with landmines, unexploded ordnance, and other explosive hazards, posing a direct threat to life and health.

Visitors are therefore strongly advised to observe the following safety precautions:

  • do not leave paved roads or designated tourist routes unless absolutely necessary, especially outside major cities;

  • avoid entering fields, forests, abandoned buildings, and damaged infrastructure;

  • pay close attention to warning signs. A red triangular sign bearing the words "Warning! Mines!" indicates that entry into the area is strictly prohibited;

  • if you discover a suspicious object, do not touch or move it. Move to a safe distance immediately and report it to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine by calling 101, or to the National Police of Ukraine by calling 102;

  • do not approach abandoned military equipment or any objects left behind in areas affected by hostilities.
